Model Government means eating out for a lot of our meals. While this is always fun, it can mean more money, and unfortunately, more calories. One of the top restaurant choices of YIG delegates is Ian’s Pizza. On their website, it clearly states, “We are a small company, nutritional analysis costs tens of thousands of dollars, and we don’t precisely measure/weigh everything that goes into our food.” In other words, Ian’s does not have any type of nutritional menu. For some people, such as myself, this is a bit of a problem. I have been trying to eat healthier, and watching what you eat at Model Government can be hard. In my opinion, it is best to bring as much healthy food as you can ahead of time to avoid restaurants that lack nutritional menus. But keep having fun; there are still plenty of ways to find lighter options in Madison. For example, you can go for a plain hot tea at Starbucks instead of a sugar-filled frappuccino, as I did this morning. There is also a Subway and Quiznos located on the rim of the capitol building, and rumor has it Ian’s even sells salads. Even if you are not entirely sure what’s in it, you can never go wrong with a salad, right?
